Lettuces and cabbages

04 Nov 2009 Dampexpert, dry rot, wet rot

Ok, so if you have a problem with wet rot will it turn into dry rot? I’ve often been told that it is the natural progression. Will a lettuce turn into a cabbage then, I wonder? My dads a keen gardener so I asked him. He’s not a man to waste words so let’s just say he said not. Wet rot and dry rot are in fact two different types of fungus. It is possible to have two separate fungal attacks in the same area of timber, so the real issue is to lower the moisture content of the timber to eliminate the risk of wet rot and dry rot. And keep your eye on the lettuces.
