Passive versus Heat Recovery ventilation
23 Sep 2009 Dampexpert
The installation of passive (or non-mechanical) ventilation units is attractive for a number of reasons including quiet operation and no requirement for electricity, making them environmentally friendly. Passive vents offer continuous trickle ventilation with individual units having specific capabilities. As part of an overall solution, a passive vent can be a useful component but is often less successful when used as the total solution. Heat recovery ventilation units are electrical units which provide continuous controlled ventilation including a boost function used to respond to high relative humidity. Heat recovery units can be used as a complete solution to a condensation problem.
